Fist thing first, I too am distant to offensive, ommending type of communication which is commonly referred as virtue signaling in sm. As definition implies they have noting in common with vitue. Here, in this context, virtue signaling only refer friendly, lovely, grandparent type of virtue signaling. Like showing soft ways of life without any harm.
all have arisen from simple quote of A Mcduffee: “Some people are against “virtue signaling.” As a Stoic, I think virtue is good. One should aim to become so good one’s entire life signals virtue.”

Hypocritics are the ones who badly wishes to own a bit of virtue yet so far away from it so much that they load all the anger, which they accumulated from the start, on best ones while faking/announcing/crying themselves out as the most vulnerable broken ones. Those even include lying about their health conditions to abuse feelings. I am sorry but its 2020: All these became such an ancient and cheap way of faking virtue and hiding the actual faces. And again it is 2020, if there still exists people who cannot distinguish “real virtue and real minority whose human rights are being violated” from “hypocritics and faked emotion abusers especially upon simple and cheap or made-up issues”, you seriously need an upgrade. I advice this upgrade because only oneself can achieve on one’s own and thi even reault in such a huge superpower that unleash the one and set the one free from delusions. Then the one becomes bulletproof.
Thus, real virtue owners inevitably spreads their own principles. Others may capture it as virtue signaling. Thats basic flow of virtue; one cannot violate not as a must but as an essence. Though, all these will act as a magnet for the attacks of hypocritics, abusers, and both to converge virtue holder to their shallow stage; this risky state due to virtue signaling worths it! It is worthy because, virtue can be tested but cannot be broken. It stands out till the end and even beyond. Thus, the ones with true virtue, not show-off, are the examples to amplify the hidden strength of virtue.
Among all the ones having virtue naturally; there is no virtue. Since it is a natural state anyhow. Among each other we do not define virtue. Thats why some eastern philosophers are misunderstood. Zen/Taoism explains these states better since all these forms its fundamentals. As long as we are living with opposites, we have labels and need to use the word virtue to spot and explain, likewise we need the words hypocritical, fake etc. In a environment clean from negative and edges, we do not need to use any word to label positive or negative. Thus, for virtue owners, hypocritical actions or states are impossible. Because entire life signals virtue as a natural flow; again in Zen/Tao philosophy, it is called effortlessly…. you achieve the best effortlessly, you welcome worst outcomes with neutral state again effortlessly.. effortlessly does not mean no effort is involved, but indicates those efforts flows effortlessly. Not due to demands of others, not due to gaslighting, not due to any enforcement. If happens in the one’s core; then, you already have your answer. Thats why If it happens effortlessly, it is inevitable. Maybe sooner, or maybe later; but inevitable..
